Ami tripped over a root, yet again, and decided to just stay on the ground this time.
"Nnnnng, Two days and we havent gotten any where!" She complained before flipping over onto her back, she looked over at her pokemon, they were getting low on spirits and energy as well.
"I wonder how far Trey is now... I wish he hadnt left me to do this on my own."

"Trey?" Pastel wandered over to her trainer and currled up in the crook of her neck.
"Trey is my little brother, he got a starter at the same time Gary and I, he got the Bulbasaur and named it Bud- I dont know what other pokemon he has."

"Hey girl, arent you a little old to be starting out?"
Ami's eye twitched, how rude could one kid be?
"I'm 19, you ignorant little rat."
She got to her feet and grabbed the string Buzzle was connected to; while they were all sleeping, he had crawled into a tree and made himself a caccoon. The Bug Catcher smirked and through out his pokemon, Ami started twisting her wrist around, causing Buzzle to swing on his string and before long he was spinning rapidly through the air like a windmill.
"H-hey! Thats not fair!" The boy shouted.
"Life aint FAIR!" She put extra emphisis on the last word only because she used efort to slam her Metapod against the boy's Caterpie, effectivly knocking it uncontious. The bloy almost started to cry as he returned the injured creature but then scowled and with a sniff through another pokeball.
"Rattata, get'er!"
A purple mouse similar to Pastel but darker and with red eyes longed towards Ami and her pokemon; Ami only spun, still swinging Buzzle around and when the Rattata made contact with the ground again she changed the spinning into more of a nunchaku motion and slammed Buzzle on the Rattata's head.
Ami smirked a bit,
"He's resistant. I like it." She commented as she watched the little mouse get up even though one eye was shut due to blood from it's head running down over it. It wouldnt be a sever injury, it had just been enough to break the skin.
Ami stopped swining Buzzle and watched the Rattata for its next move.
"I swear, when I evolve im kicking your ass human." Buzzle complained, Ami rolled her eyes.
The Rattata took the opertunity of her not paying attention and lunged again for the Metapod and clampped down on its shell. Ami pooled at it for a moment and then shortened the length of the string between Buzzle and her self and then started spinning and swinging again before releasing enough of the string to have it rocket towards a tree. The Rattata released its hold on Buzzle with a screach before it laid uncontious. The little Bug Catcher boy ran over to it and started bawling.
"Next time, kid, dont call people old. They might take it out on you.... and they might not be as nice as I am."
She started down the trail again after getting Pastel who had been waiting patiently but stopped when the boy screamed at her,
"Nice!? H-how was that nice!? My pokemon are knocked out!"
Ami stopped for a moment and then shot a glare back at the boy,
"You dont know that pokemon die do you? Youre so stupid, I'm nice because I intentionally let them live, to spare you from their deaths. Most trainers dont care and will just kill a pokemon. What do you think the world is kid? Rainbows and Lollipops!? Grow up or some ones gunna kill your pokemon and you'll die too.... on the inside atleast."
Having successfully scared the living shit out of the boy, Ami continued down the path, killing a few more Rattata and Caterpie before finding the end of the forest and recoup station. She sat at one of the tables and put her pokemon in front of her, Zippo hadnt been used much and was now at lvl13, but Pastel had grown to lvl 11 and Buzzle to lvl8 according to the Pokedex. Ami ran a finger over the crack in Buzzle's shell,
"Its not that bad, but the sooner you evolve, the less i'll have to worry about it cracking worse... or getting infected or something."
"And the sooner I get to kick your ass!" Buzzle retorted, again only gaining a roll of the eyes and a smirk from Ami.

"Ami, why did you talk like that to the boy? Have you had pokemonbefore?" Zippo spoke up.
Ami scratched the back of his head, casusing him to twitch his tail a bit,
"Yeah, actually I have two pokemon back home. Kissifur, an old Meowth, and Bishop, my little Mightyena. They were the only pokemon I was allowed to have while I was still living with my parents... and I wasnt even supposed to have Bishop at first."
"But theyre alive?" Buzzle questioned in a much more over cast tone.
Ami stared for a second, "Yeah, of corse they are.... What, you wanna know why I reamed the brat?" Silence, "Well, Kissifur was a gift for my 11th birthday from my mother who got him from a friend who couldnt take care of him any more, so he doesnt actually have a pokeball. Long story short, He almost died once and it tore me apart inside because I thought he was actually dead. I just hate when people take it for granted and think Pokemon dont die, its a childish notion and something that is a horrid but nessisary lesson in life."
The team was silent for a long moment, which made Ami more than uncomfortable. She sighed and then looked towards the door they hadnt gone through yet, the door to Pewter city,
"If any of you are unwilling to risk your life for what im doing here, then you should leave now and go back to the forest as the strongest pokemon there. I wont released you officially- only so no one can capture you again so you dont have to do this, but unofficially you will just be released."
"Why would we do that?" Pastel asked, a paw on Ami's crossed arms,
"Even if Buzzle is a ball of angst, we all still are glad you came by us."
"Shes right. I'd be with that other boy if you hadn't chose me, and I dont think I could handle that." Zippo crawled up onto Ami's shoulder and nuzzled her cheek.
Ami started to tear up and returned the affection to her two pokemon,
"What about you Buzzle, do you want to go back?"
"And be stuck as a Metapod? No thanks, you owe it to me to help me evolve." Ami smiled with misty eyes and picked him up to hug him,
"Let me go you swinging demon!"
"Oh shut up and let me hug you."
_____
Ami stood out side of the pokemon center, all her pokemon were still in their balls after being healed. The town wasnt all that big, but she still hadnt ever been there before.
"Hey, are you a pokemon trainer?" A man ran up to Ami, he was a bit older; slightly greying hair and wrinkling skin, but not honestly that much older than her own parents. He had a big star going from the bottom of his jaw line down into the collar of his shirt and Arcius knows how much further it went, Ami guessed it was either from a fight of some sever kind or from the last war. Meeting a survivor would be interesting at the least, most people his age, especially men, were a rarity now.
"Yes sir, I am."
"Ha, good good, you might be able to entertain our Gym Leader, Brock! He's been looking for a new challenger, would you challange him?"
"I-- ... Well, sure."
"Good good, will you follow me then?"
Ami fallowed the man across town and to a great building,
"He's inside waiting.... Good luck kid."
Ami smiled at the man as he left and waved,
"Thank you!"

He didnt really respond, so Ami just shrugged and walked in. When she did she was greeted with another old man, this time a generation older than the previous one who had lead her here, he was a hunched over man, leaning on a cane- the cane was a bit fearsome, having the head of a Fearow, but the man was an exact opposite. He seemed gentle and smiled at Ami when she walked in.
"Are you lost dear?" He didnt sound as feeble as he looked, but age poisoned his voice.
"Oh, well no not really. I'm here to see Brock?"
"Oh? Another new challanger, thats two this week now. Fancey that."
"Only two? Who was the other one?"
"Just a boy with brown hair, I couldnt tell you much about him or his pokemon, I was called to leave before the battle started."
That didnt help much, that could have easily been Gary or Trey, but Trey wasnt waiting at the pokemon center for her, so he must have moved on, so it was most likely him.
"Seems im still behind, thank you for telling me."

Ami nodded to the man who did the same then walked through the second set of doors. She stopped short when she saw a young man about her own age sitting on what looked like a Thrown made of rocks and stone, which in turn was set up levels above the battle ground. He wasnt sitting in it properly; he had one leg over the arm of the chair and was leaning against the other and... was he asleep? Oh who cared, he was cute; Ami started to leave, being all red faced, half due to how cute she thought he was and half because she couldnt remember how to breath!
"Are you here to battle me?"
Oh Arcius, to late. Ami turned back slowl to the bow and looked around nervously,
"I uh... Well yes, I am."
"Tell me your name?" Brock got up from his seat and made his way down to the battle field.
"I'm Ami."
"Im Brock, Pewter's gym leader... I believe in rock hard defense and determination! Thats why all my pokemon are rock-types. Do you still want to challange me?"
"Hell yeah." She answered a little more fired up, pulling out a pokeball.
"Fine then, show me your best!" He threw out a pokeball and released what the Pokedex called a Geodude.
Ami tossed her own pokeball to release her little lizard and then flipped open her pokedex to learn about Brock's Geodude:
'GEODUDE. LVL11. ROCK TYPE.
[INSERT POKEDEX ENTRY]

"Alright Zip, Hes got the type advantage, so lets make this quick, Scratch it till its a pebble!"
Almost before Ami finished her sentence Zippo was scurring across the the ground and launched himself onto the hovering rock and started clawing and snapping it it, but the Geodude didnt even flinch... If rocks can flinch. But it blinked, so maybe they can flinch. It did how ever, fling itself against another rock, causing Zippo to fall off and take more damage than Ami cared to whitness.
"Zip!"
The lizard got up and ran away quickly begore the Geodude could hit it again,
"Zip, only longer ranged attack now, we cant let it hit you. Spam Ember."
Zippo looked back at his trainer, unsure because of the type match up, but trusted her instinct and scurried up onto a rock and getting back up on his back legs and taking such a big breath that the yellow part of his belly expanded and then breathed out hard and embers flew from his mouth. Ami noticed that the flame on Zippo's tail was smaller than when they had started the battle, which worried her emmencly. Brock ordered a defence curl and it's arms took the brunt of the attack but after a long stale mate, some embers got into the Geodude's eyes and it wailed out.
Brock ran out to the animated rock and sprayed it with a full heal, restoring its eyes and health. Ami took the opertunity to use a potion on her Charmander and saw his tail flame restore to full size.
"Ready?" She asked Zippo but she was looking over at brock, both Zippo and Brock nodded to her. The trainers ran back to their positions and resumed the battle;
"Geodude, tackle!"
Ami was about to tell Zippo to scram but the Geodude was so fast! It literally stunned Ami how speedy it was, and now its defence was about as high as possible as well, oh this jutst wasnt going to end well, but Zippo landed and ember right into the Geodudes face durring the tackel.
"Critical hit!" Ami shouted in excitement and releafe. Zippo took damage, but not has much as the Geodude, "C'mon Zip, do it again!" She punched the air and jumped around a bit, forgetting herself in her excitement. Brock smirked, she looked pretty similer to the previous challenger, same nose especially, but even thoguh she was obviously older than he had been, she acted much younger. It was a bit entertaining, and the battle was already more entertaining than the one with the Bulbasaur. Obviously.
BANG!!!
Ami stared at the grounded Geodude in awe, both because of what a loud crash it had made and because her little undersized Charmander had just defeated a pokemon with a type advantage.
"Good job, you defeated my pokemon with out killing it, that takes restraint, but I wonder... Is it just because your charmander had a disadvantage." Brock held up another pokeball, hesitating incase Ami wanted to switch out her pokemon since its fmale was a forth of what it was when he entered.
Ami took the opertunity and withdrew him,
"Thanks Zip, you did more than fantastic, but now its time to test out Pastel."
Pastel jumped out of her ball and chattered at Brock as a show of power. He did smirk a bit and nod to her, but then dropped his pokeball and a giant snake made of rock filled most of the room. As if that wasnt enough to silance Pastel and Ami, it had a giant horn on its head to make it even more terrifying. Pastel, feeling brave, charged the beast and started tackling and scratching it, even a chip of rock came off of it but it was just short of nothing.
"Onix." Brock didnt even need to say any thing else, the Onix flexed into the Rattata and she got flung across the room.
"PASTEL!!!!!" Ami screached, The little purple rat slowly got back to her feet and went to go back to attack the snake. Ami grabbed Pastel's pokeball and went to throw it at her to recall her and quit, but Zippo beat her to it, he burst out of his pokeball and screeched at the snake to capture its attention. This let Pastel go right for the cip, she hit it as hard as she could, causing harm to her self in the process but the chip she had made earlier splintered and cracked a bit. The Onix screamed at her and used it's tail to swipe her to the side. Ami threw the pokeball at her before the Onix's tail hit the wall with her. She sprayed a potion on Zippo, having to hold him back from attacking the Onix wrecklessly.
"Let me go! He almost killed her! LET. ME. GO." Ami did right after she was done healing him. Zippo went out like a demon out of hell, his tail flairing up in his rage and fired embers at the crack that Pastel had created and then tackled it, making a critical injury. The Onix, in pain, wreathed around and slammed into the Charmander.
Ami stared in a paniced horror when Zippo didnt get up. 'Not again' she thought and flun Zippo's pokeball out, accidently dropping Buzzle's pokeball, realeasing him. Ami squeeked,
"Oh my Mew, No, hes a Metapod, I didnt mean to!" And switched him for Pastel.
"Think you can do this? Zippo cant fight any more." Pastel watched the Onix wreathing and glaring and that Zippo had widened the crack.
"He's going down Ami." She told her trainer and bolted towards the great snake,
"Onix, tackle again, a real one this time." Brock ordered. The Onix reared back a bit and then dove it's head down at Pastel. She jumpped just in time to avoid the Tackle and landed right in the Onix's eye. Ami's eyes lit up, Pastel, Tackle it, RIGHT NOW!"
Pastel did as she was told and tackeld it- right in the eye. The Onix screached and literally gave up. It flung the rat off it's face and slithered back to Brock to be recalled. Ami caught her Rattata and held her to her chest; both of them stared at eachother with panic and sten started a fit of nervous laughter.
Brock recalled his Onix and walked over to Ami and her Rattata.
"I took you for granted. As proof of your victory, here's the BoulderBadge." He admitted holding out the badge to her. She took it and bowed her head for a moment in thanks- Pastel squeeked in victory at him, out of breath, but still she was proud of herself.
Thats an official Pokemon Leauge Badge. Its bearer's pokemon become more powerfull. The technique Flash can now be used any time." Ami held Pastel on one arm and held the badge out infront of her in the other hand and looked at it for a moment before smiling a bit.
"Thank you, but I really have to take my pokemoon to Nurse Joy before I go catch up to my brother. Thanks for this though." Ami hesitated and then started to leave.
"Wait! Take this with you." Brock put a TM in her pocket,
"You can teach that TM to a pokemon, but a TM is only good once, so when you use one to teach a tequnique, pick the pokemon carefully! That TM is TM34, Bide."
Ami smiled and thanked the boy again before starting to leave. She stopped for a moment and then ran back, kissed the boy's cheek and then ran back outside and to the PokemonCenter to heal her pokemon before leaving to catch up to her brother.
